One of Shropshire’s finest privately owned country estates.
Ancestral home to the Leighton family for over 300 years, Loton Park is a magnificent 17th-century country mansion in Alberbury, near Shrewsbury in Shropshire, on the upper reaches of the River Severn.
The Leighton family lineage is well documented and the estate is mentioned in the Domesday Book. Loton Park is currently the home of the 11th Baronet, Sir Michael Leighton and Lady Leighton.
The house is a Grade II* listed building surrounded by beautiful gardens and views over rolling farmland. The ruins of an earlier castle, built in 1340, also survive in the grounds.
The 400 acres of parkland includes one of the two privately owned deer parks to remain in Shropshire; a passion of the current Baronet. It is also prominent in motorsport as the location of the annual British Hill Climb Championship.
